The University of Minnesota Libraries invites applications for a Research Impact & Research Information Management (RIM) Librarian. The incumbent is responsible for current and possible future services in support of research information management and research impact, serving multiple levels of needs and interest. This position is part of the Open Research & Publishing department and reports to the Director of Open Research & Publishing. The Libraries is deeply collaborative, and the successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across departments and service areas to advance the Libraries’ strategic priorities in supporting open science and scholarship, showcasing university research and scholarship, and engaging with the university’s research enterprise.
The University of Minnesota Libraries has a robust research information management service, including an existing researcher profile/expertise system, a research information data warehouse for various institutional uses, and a fully implemented ORCID system. This service is supported through substantial, distributed educational offerings and a team-based support model.
Responsibilities:
- Provides vision and direction for the Libraries’ research information management and research impact services.
- Provides consultation services to researchers on the use of research metrics, including guidance around the responsible use of metrics, disciplinary differences in publishing and metrics, and the use of various bibliometric and altmetric resources, and the use of researcher identification and profiling tools.
- Prioritizes, evaluates, negotiates and manages requests for research information and bibliometric data and support.
- Designs, develops and maintains effective content and training related to research information management and research impact.
- Prepares standard and customized reports, visualizations and presentations for faculty, departments and research centers.
- Extracts and analyzes research-related data in support of strategic requests from Libraries leadership.
- Works closely with vendors and campus colleagues to solve technical issues.
- Develops and maintains an awareness of the trends and issues in university level rankings and research impact, and advocates for the responsible use of metrics.
- Serves as the Libraries’ liaison to local and national RIM community, including but not limited to the North American Pure User Group and EFS Forum.
This is a full-time, 12-month, continuous-track appointment, academic professional position with probationary appointment at the Assistant or Associate Librarian level. The minimum salary is $57,500, and we have good benefits and a moving allowance.

Position Opportunity: Data Management Education Specialist, Iowa State University
The Iowa State University Library seeks nominations and applications for the position of Data Management Education Specialist. As part of the Research Data Services (RDS) unit, the Specialist will play a key part in the University Library’s support and advocacy of responsible data management, data sharing, and open research practices such as computational reproducibility.

Electronic Resources and Discovery Librarian
The University of Tennessee at Martin, Paul Meek Library, seeks applications for a tenure-track colleague in the role of Electronic Resources and Discovery Librarian. Reporting to the Dean of the Paul Meek Library, the position provides leadership to implement and manage scholarly electronic resources at the University’s main campus in Martin, to its five regional centers across western Tennessee, and to the University’s expanding online programs. The Library serves a population of 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
The University of Tennessee at Martin is a primary campus in the University of Tennessee System. It is located in beautiful, rural Northwest Tennessee, approximately 120 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville. The University’s emphasis is rooted in excellence of undergraduate instruction. The faculty and staff provide a caring and nurturing campus environment for all students. Primary Assignment: Electronic Resources and Discovery
- Responsible for the management of the Library’s electronic resource management system and EBSCO Discovery Service discovery tool.
- Load, update, maintain, and withdraw electronic records using EBSCO Folio ILS, OCLC, and other vendors.
- Participate in collection development of electronic resources.
- Establish and maintain effective vendor relations and access to vendor administrative websites.
- Identify and resolve technical issues as they relate to electronic resources.
- Collect, maintain, and report on user statistics.
Other Duties
- Participate in aspects of the Library’s liaison program, including collection development, instruction, and research support.
- Participate in the Library’s general reference program. This includes both in-person and chat reference, and may include some evening and weekend shifts.
- Progress successfully along the promotion and tenure track, and participate fully as a member of the university faculty including serving on internal library and campus-wide faculty and related committees.
- Maintain awareness of trends and advances in the field by attending professional conferences, workshops, meetings, and other events.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from ALA-accredited library program (or equivalent degree and experience).
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with library acquisitions, cataloging, or electronic resources or other related academic library experience.
- Experience with an integrated library system at an academic library.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EBSCO Folio integrated library system.
- Familiarity with RDA, AACR2, and MARC cataloging standards.
- Experience using OCLC Collection Management Services.
- Experience with electronic resources usage statistics standards and protocols.
Salary/Benefits
This is a twelve-month tenure-track appointment with faculty rank at the Assistant/Associate Professor level reporting to the Library Dean. Salary will reflect the successful candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. Benefits include a choice of health and retirement plans, tuition waiver for self, and partial tuition waivers for dependents. Anticipated salary of $49,000-$54,000, depending on education and experience
