About the Job:
As the Imaging and Microfilm Technician, you will be responsible for producing high quality digital images and microfilm for state and local agencies. In this position, you will require a high degree of independence and technical knowledge of agency rules, regulations, and services.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Microfilm paper documents by use of traditional 16mm or 35mm planetary cameras.
- Process and duplicate preservation 16mm and 35mm microfilm.
- Scan paper records by use of high-speed document scanners, flatbed scanners, and book scanners.
- Write digital images to film for preservation and access purposes.
- Assist with the transfer of digitized images onto preservation microfilm or external electronic storage devices.
- Answer questions and provide technical information to state and local agencies regarding agency rules, regulations, and services.
- Assist with training new or existing staff on equipment operation.
- Perform daily maintenance and basic troubleshooting for microfilm and scanning equipment, communicate any repair, or non-daily maintenance needs to Lab Director.

What You’ll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required.

- Proficiency with commonly used computer software (MS Office) with the ability to learn specialized software.
- Practical knowledge of office organization, bookkeeping, or record keeping system.
- Ability to read resource material, extract appropriate information and apply.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of resource information following agency policy and legal constraints.
You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment:
- Specialized knowledge of microfilming and imaging procedures.
- Specialized knowledge of OSHA safety procedures as they apply to microfilming procedures.
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations pertaining to the assigned program area and its effects upon other internal divisions and other agencies.
- Knowledge and compliance of rules, regulations, laws, and overall agency policies.
