Students & Alumni: GLAM Virtual Career Festival Begins This Week (2/10-2/14)

All DLIS students and job-seeking alumni are encouraged to participate in GLAM.

The first events for the virtual GLAM Career Festival begin today! Read on for details about the Career Exploration Panels, how to register, and the prep sessions offered to give you advice and training for Handshake, the virtual platform for the event, and tips for your job search.

GLAM 2025 provides students and alumni with a unique opportunity for career exploration and networking with GLAM industry professionals, which is facilitated through a series of career exploration panels, career fair prep sessions and a virtual career fair.

By participating in GLAM 2025, students and alumni will have unparalleled, one-on-one access to a wide range of GLAM professionals from organizations such as the Library of Congress, American Association of Law Libraries, and many public and university libraries.

 

Week 1 GLAM Career Exploration Panel Series

Advancing in your GLAM career is as much about professional development and networking as it is about attending recruiting events. Join us on Zoom for the following panel discussions with GLAM employers to learn more about trends in their field and how to set yourself up for success. Monday, February 10: Explore Alternative Career Paths. Register.

• Hear about alternative ways to use your library degree–with representatives from StoryCorps, RAILS, and the Crisis Prevention Institute

Wednesday, February 12: Explore Careers in Government Libraries. Register.

• Representatives from the Library of Congress, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, and the National Transportation Library share their insights on career paths in government libraries.

Thursday, February 13: Explore Careers in Archives. Register.

• Hear insights and experiences from archives practitioners at the University of Louisville, Harvard University, and the Library of Congress.
