Several of our alumni have been active in this professional association. This is a wonderful opportunity to network within the Library Information Science community.
The Membership Committee of the Research Data Access and Preservation (RDAP) Association would like to invite you to join during our free membership drive and also share this opportunity with your students. This is the last year that free membership to the association is available – don’t miss this great opportunity.
RDAP’s mission is to support an engaged community of information professionals committed to creating, maintaining, advancing, and teaching best practices for research data, access, and preservation.
Data science and research data management are transforming the way research is conducted and how libraries support and preserve scholarly communication. Library and information science programs, like yours, have recognized the need to develop curricula to prepare future professionals with the skills and knowledge needed in today’s information organizations. RDAP provides a venue to discuss and share information and best practices in this evolving area of practice. RDAP is also committed to shaping the discourse around anti-racism, diversity and inclusion, advocacy, and ethical use of data and technology. You can read more about these and RDAP’s other core values on our site.
In addition to having a voice in advocacy, RDAP members:
- Receive the quarterly RDAP Happenings newsletter
- Can vote in elections
- May run for RDAP office and serve on action committees
- Are eligible to receive awards
- Contribute to the future direction of the organization
- Additional membership benefits coming soon including discounts on conference registration swag, and more
You can join the RDAP listserv, where data management professionals share job opportunities, issues of interest, and get help from their colleagues.
We invite you and your students to become RDAP members today!
