The Allen County Public Library is seeking a highly talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team in a busy Main library department. BUSINESS, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY MANAGER
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Responsible for the effective function of all areas of services provided in the Business and Technology department.
* Selects, trains, and evaluates the performance of department personnel.
* Oversees collection management through weeding, consultation with the Collection Developers, and filling of customer’s special requests.
* Participates in the development of policies and procedures for the department; works closely with other operations managers in developing system-wide library services and programs. Ensures department compliance with system-wide goals.
* Assists customers with use of public equipment, computers, and the library’s ILS.
* Assists customers in readers’ advisory and reference work.
* Supervises the planning, promotion, and implementation of department and system programming for adults.
* Makes presentations to and participates in partnerships with community organizations concerning library services.
* Approves purchase requests generated by the department.
* Prepares periodic reports on department activities.
* Supervises and reports on the welfare of the department, handling and reporting emergency security, housekeeping, and maintenance needs.
* Participates in staff development programs, workshops, and professional associations.
* Serves on ad hoc materials evaluation committee in cases of material complaint as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Master’s Degree Required, Field of Study: Library Science
* 3 plus years of experience in professional library work
* Some experience in a supervisory capacity.
* Must apply for and maintain Indiana Librarian Certification, earning 75 LEU(Library Education Units)within five years.
* Problem solving skills sufficient for the management of workflow among employees dealing with the constantly increasing demand for service.
* Interpersonal skills sufficient for communicating effectively with a variety of customers and for effective leadership of full-time and part-time employees.
Compensation
* This position pays a salary of $51,460.45 and up based on comparable and related experience
