The Supervisor of the Professional Development Office is a leadership position at the Indiana State Library supervising a dynamic team of five professional librarians consisting of four Regional Coordinators and the Children’s Services Consultant. This position works out of the beautiful limestone Indiana State Library located in downtown Indianapolis on the state government campus within walking distance of restaurants, the Canal Walk, and Monument Circle. This position is responsible for shaping continuing education opportunities for librarians in Indiana. We are looking for someone who is excited about:
* Crafting face-to-face trainings
* Producing webinars
* Developing our learning management system
* And bringing new ideas to our team so that we can provide top-notch professional development to all kinds of library workers across the state of Indiana
We train library staff on virtual reality, makerspaces, storytime techniques, leadership, as well as core library services like professionalism, customer service and more. This position is also responsible for overseeing the Indiana Library Leadership Academy<https://continuinged.isl.in.gov/leadership-development/pd-committee/leadership/>, which turns out new library leaders every two years.
Partnerships in this position are a must. We work closely with the Indiana Library Federation, the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services and attend the annual Continuing Education Forum supported by the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies<http://www.cosla.org/>, to be held in 2018 in Juneau, Alaska. We are looking for a motivated leader with a passion for training and excellent management skills. The successful candidate will be excited to work in a collaborative, cordial, and dynamic office environment where continuing education is valued (and food trucks are omnipresent).
