Annual Meeting: Sparking Change, Friday, March 31, 2017
Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana
You are invited to contribute your archives knowledge and experiences with your colleagues from around the state at the SIA Annual Meeting, to be held on the Ball State University campus in Muncie on Friday, March 31, 2017.
This is the year we celebrate SIA’s 45th Anniversary with the theme of Sparking Change. Share your stories about how you’ve used innovative solutions to solve common problems, created change at your institution, or adopted new approaches in response to user experiences. Or spark our ideas by showing us exciting projects or creative exhibits.
Sessions will be 45 minutes long. They may be presented by individuals or multiple speakers and can be hands-on demonstrations, panels, or lightning rounds. We’re also open to other formats if you suggest them. Change is good!
Sessions can be on any aspect of archival work and speakers are encouraged to share both successes and failures so that attendees can benefit from lessons learned. Sessions should be informative, inspiring, create discussion, focus on the practical applications of the topic, and maybe even fun. Fun is good, too!
Be the change you wish to create. Suggest topics you want to discuss at conferences. If you need a few ideas, consider topics such as:
Digital solutions Design thinking for archives Processing issues Grant writing Advocacy Creative solutions
Outreach and marketing strategies Lone arranger issues Copyright Student projects and internships
Reference and archival instruction Primary source literacy Remodeling your archives
Speakers do not need to be SIA members. Students and new professionals are encouraged to participate. The meeting will take place at the Ball State University Alumni Center, where parking is free!
Submit proposals to Carol Street, SIA Vice President at firstname.lastname@example.org. Include a session title, brief description of the proposed session (250 words or less), and name and contact information of all speakers.
Proposal deadline is December 1, 2016.
Many thanks to this year’s sponsor:
