Spring Cleaning Tech Event: Win AirPods or Bose Headphones!
Dear IU Faculty and Staff Members,
In celebration of Earth Day, we are excited to announce Indiana University’s upcoming eWaste Recycling Event, taking place from April 15-18 across all eight campuses. It’s spring cleaning—technology style!
This initiative aims to bolster our cybersecurity and sustainability efforts by recycling outdated IU-ownedcomputing devices, such as laptops, desktops, monitors, etc. (Please note that personally owned devices are not included.)
Why Participate? Cybersecurity is paramount in protecting our academic integrity and personal information. Older devices often cannot support the latest security updates, making them vulnerable to cyber threats. By participating, you’re not only ensuring your digital security but also contributing to a greener planet.
What’s in It for You? To thank you for your contribution, each participant will have the chance to win prizes (AirPods or Bose headphones) through our event raffle.
How Does It Work?
Secure Device Handover: Bring in your old IU computing devices, where our team will securely prep them for recycling. Rest assured; all devices will undergo a thorough data wiping process to protect your information. We are collecting these devices at our Support Center located in Education & Arts, room 1109. Old IU devices may include, but aren’t limited to, laptops, desktops, monitors, keyboards, cables, and tablets.
Enter the Raffle: Upon device handover, you’ll automatically be entered into the raffle for a chance to win AirPods or Bose headphones.
Data Transfer Assistance: If you need help with transferring data from one of your old devices to a new one or to secure cloud storage, our dedicated local UITS staff will be on hand to assist. Simply call the Support Center at 574-520-5555 to make an appointment.
Your Impact. By participating, you’re taking a significant step towards enhancing cybersecurity and supporting our university’s sustainability goals. Together, we can make a substantial difference.
Stay Informed. We plan on sharing how many devices we collected and the winners of the raffle. Thank you for joining us in this important initiative. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Support Center at 574-520-5555 or helpdesk@iusb.edu
