Along with recording your lectures in PowerPoint, you can alternately automate recording your live lectures to keep it simple. You can use the Kaltura Lecture Capture system to easily share the recordings with your students via Canvas. There are several reasons why you might want to save your lectures: to share with students who are absent, to allow students to review lectures (useful for second-language learners, those who benefit from controlling the pace of the audio, or anyone with auditory processing challenges), or to have a record of your class for evidence of what was (or wasn’t) said.
To schedule a Kaltura Lecture Capture recording of a class you teach, fill out and submit the Kaltura Request Form. You can request that your course be recorded automatically for the whole semester. If you only want to record a single lecture you can use Kaltura Lecture Capture software with the webcam on your computer or use Kaltura Personal Capture. Please note that if you have students who are attending class online along with your in-person students, then you have to record that session in Zoom. Otherwise, setting up your recording in Kaltura will provide the best quality video for students to watch on any of their devices.
