Seeing students getting sleepy? Try the “human histogram” classroom activity. Create a continuum along one wall. For example, one side of the wall may represent “strongly agree” and the opposite side represents “strongly disagree.” Pose a statement and have students arrange themselves along the continuum based on their opinions. Once students are settled, debrief as a class, asking students to explain their placement and thought processes. This quick activity gets ALL students involved and gets them up and moving!
Join Us for the Active Learning Block Party!
If this activity has you inspired, you’re in luck! We’re hosting an “Active Learning Block Party” on Tuesday, February 18th and we’d be thrilled for you to join us. The block party is a wonderful opportunity to learn 50 active learning techniques (yes, 50!!) and chat with other instructors.
So, register for the event, mark your calendar, and prepare to have some fun!
