At IU there are several tools you can use to record short video content for your courses. The one you are probably most familiar with is Zoom, which can be set to auto-record to your Kaltura account. You might also like the extra features of recording to Kaltura with Personal Capture. But if you would like the flexibility and ease of recording with PowerPoint, you can set it up to record and then upload your recording to Kaltura from where it is then just as easy to save to your Canvas courses.
The advantage of using PowerPoint to record is that if you need to update some information on a single slide, you have that option (instead of being forced to re-record the entire video). The disadvantage of using PowerPoint is that you will have to manage multiple files (the PowerPoint slides and the recording) and upload your recording to Kaltura manually.
