Take a look at Peter’s first article with our lab where he further narrows the list of potential EphA2 and ephrin-A5 binding partners within the lens! This opens the way for more effective and informative protein work within the lens! Have a read: Spatial-temporal comparison of Eph/Ephrin gene expression in ocular lenses from aging and knockout… Read more »

Gryffin Flowers is our Lab’s Dean Summer Scholar!
Congratulations Gryffin! We’re excited to have you in the lab over the summer!
ARVO 2024 Symposium – Innovative approaches for harnessing novel small and biomolecules for the treatment of eye diseases
The Thursday ARVO 2024 symposium, organized and moderated by Dr(s). Dorota Luiza Stankowska and Catherine Cheng, was abundant with great ideas and science! Thank you to the presenters and the attendees for the insightful discussion on biomolecules and drug delivery to the eye!
ARVO 2024 Full House Mini-Symposium
The mini-symposium, “Biomechanical properties of normal, aging, and pathological eye tissues”, organized by the LE section and moderated by Dr. Bianca Maceo Heilman and Dr. Shizuka Koh, this session was greatly successful! The room was filled such that there were researchers standing along the walls! Thank you to the organizers, moderators, presenters, and attendees for… Read more »
Happy Birthday Isaiah!
The lab celebrated by going to Red Lobster! The lab forgot to grab a picture with the cheddar bay biscuits, so here’s a picture from earlier in the day, when our stomachs weren’t ready to burst! Happy Birthday Isaiah!
Dr. Yuka Okada Came to Visit!
Not too long ago, Dr. Okada came by to visit and help out with some experiments! We look forward to seeing you again at ARVO Dr. Okada!
Preparation and Imaging of Murine Ocular Lens Whole Mounts
Together, with the Fowler and Parreno labs, we have a new article that elucidates novel methods to visualize the peripheral structures in the ocular lens, live and fixed, and methods for image quantification! Video protocols are here: Preparation and Imaging of Murine Ocular Lens Whole Mounts.
The Cheng Lab and the Fowler Lab’s New Article in Cytoskeleton!
Our new paper with Dr. Fowler’s lab shows that rod domain mutations, but not motor domain changes, in myosin IIA lead to changes in ocular lens epithelial cell and fiber cell organization and patterning. These new data add to our knowledge about how equatorial epithelial cells and fiber cells arrange into highly organized hexagon-shaped cells… Read more »
