Also at ARVO, Dr. Catherine Cheng handed over the chair position of the ARVO AMPC (Annual Meeting Program Committee) to Dr. Xingjun Fan and welcomed the newest LE section member of the committee Dr. Janice Walker. Thank you everyone on the ARVO Annual Meeting Program Committee for their contributions towards making the ARVO meeting successful!

Also at ARVO 2024, Michael presented a poster and moderated a poster session! His first attendance at ARVO was lots of fun as can be seen in the photo with Dr. Chia-Yang Liu, Dr. Yuka Okada, and Dr. Cheng!

Together, with the Fowler and Parreno labs, we have a new article that elucidates novel methods to visualize the peripheral structures in the ocular lens, live and fixed, and methods for image quantification! Video protocols are here: Preparation and Imaging of Murine Ocular Lens Whole Mounts.

Our new paper with Dr. Fowler’s lab shows that rod domain mutations, but not motor domain changes, in myosin IIA lead to changes in ocular lens epithelial cell and fiber cell organization and patterning.
