Are you interested in volunteering to help mentor middle school students in STEM? I am running a Science Olympiad Club at one of the local middle schools, Jackson Creek. The meetings are Thursday afternoons from October 23 till December and then Mon/Thursday afternoons till March. You do not need to attend all the meetings to volunteer. Science Olympiad is a competition-based science event covering 23 different topics across such topics as life, earth/space, physical sciences and technology. The learning is supposed to be student driven. So, meetings involve small group interactions where you provide direction on the topics themselves, or (for example) provide feedback on a construction/engineering project the students are trying to solve.
