We are seeking a student to assist with organizing samples for a large, IU School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) COVID-19 study in storage freezers starting next semester. The work will require going through a spreadsheet, locating where in our storage freezers samples are, and retrieving them. The samples will then need to be reorganized by subject ID, sample type, and date. This work requires extreme attention to detail, as there are thousands of samples in storage to sort through. You will also be required to work in a timely manner, as all samples are frozen and must remain that way while working.
The ideal candidate would have:
-Excellent organization.
-Good time management.
-Prior lab experience (preferred but not required)
-Have completed the following trainings (if not done, they are required to be completed before working):
Biosafety Training
NIH Recombinant DNA Guidelines
Bloodborne Pathogens Training
This position pays $15-20/hour, depending on student degree level. Work will be at the Innovation Center (IC) at 10th & the Bypass. As students have to pay to park if they are driving to the IC, the hourly pay rate has been adjusted higher to cover this cost. Hours will be approximately 10-20 per week, depending on student’s schedule. Students cannot work more than 29 hours across all IU jobs. If interested, please contact study program manager Sara Campbell (campbesk@iu.edu) with a resume, brief description of interest & qualification, and your schedule for the spring semester.
