Analytical R&D summer researcher Overview
The Analytical Research & Development (Analytical R&D) organization is a world-class analytical team of more than 300 scientists that drives scientific excellence and process understanding through innovative solutions. We are responsible for all Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Control (CMC) analytical activities related to the development of AbbVie’s products. You will have the opportunity to work on key aspects of developing our fundamental scientific understanding as it relates to AbbVie projects and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
• Collection/analysis of samples by various analytical approaches to for development efforts
• Utilize diverse analytical techniques to perform analytical development and experimental design activities, in a collaborative environment, in efforts to provide creative solutions to complex problems and processes.
• Analyze and present data to personnel with diverse technical backgrounds, noting any trends and deviations with proposed follow-up experimentation.
• Knowledge of spectroscopy such as TRS (Transmission Raman Spectroscopy), NIR (Near Infrared Spectroscopy) and WD-XRF (Wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy) is plus.
• Willingness to learn new- and develop current skills and techniques to further promote innovation.
Minimum Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s / Master’s / PhD / PharmD in chemistry, biochemistry or other related field
• Expected graduation date between 2023-2025
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous work experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
• Previous experience with operating laboratory instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, Mass Spec) is strongly preferred.
• Effective writer and communicator with ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.
• High attention to detail, creativity in problem solving, strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to successfully work independently and as part of teams.
• Ability to work on multiple and simultaneous projects as part of a team in a global, fast-paced, setting where priorities may change quickly
