The Alzheimer’s Student Alliance (ALZSA) at Indiana University is having its first Spring semester callout meeting on February 9th at 7pm in GA2067 (Global and International Studies Building). We as an organization aim to make a difference in the lives of patients with Alzheimer’s Disease by volunteering locally, organizing events and activities for local patients, and raising money for Alzheimer’s charities. At our meetings, we educate students on how to communicate with and care for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease, and we make crafts or other tangibles that can be sent to patients to brighten their days. There are many reasons to join ALZSA: volunteering with Alzheimer’s Disease patients is an excellent way to develop patient care skills for interested pre-health students, and a wonderful way to give back to the community for any service-oriented student; our Marketing, Fundraising, Finance, and Event planning committees are fantastic resume-builders for students in related fields; and executive positions available to particularly driven ALZSA members are a great way to develop leadership skills.
