Manicke promoted to Associate Professor
In April, IUPUI chemistry faculty member Nick Manicke was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure. His tenure was approved by the Indiana University Board of Trustees on April 5, followed by his promotion to Associate Professor approved through the Purdue University Board of Trustees on April 12. Nguyen promoted to Senior Lecturer
In April, chemistry faculty member Marie Nguyen was promoted to senior lecturer. Nguyen received her BS in Chemistry in 1983 and her MS in 1993 both from IUPUI. The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology Establishes a new name Lecture series
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is delighted to announce the establishment of a new endowed named lecture series in the department. This lecture series is called the Frank J. Welcher lectureship. Dr. Frank J. Welcher, was a Professor of Chemistry at IUPUI from 1932-1978.
Untimely passing
Scott Foster, a long-time student in the Minto lab, unexpectedly passed away on December 28, 2018. Undergraduates like Scott and his contemporary Kevin Gordon were particularly important between 2006-2008 in establishing the Minto group at IUPUI.
MOLE – IUPUI Graduate Student Chemistry Society
MOLE (not an acronym) is the IUPUI Graduate Student Chemistry Society. This organization, led by and for the graduate students, aims on furthering relationships between students of the Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department, as well as with the faculty and staff of the department and with people outside of IUPUI.
