Press Release from INPAWS: the Indiana Native Plant and Wildflower Society is sponsoring a Florathon to benefit Letha’s Youth Outdoors Fund.
To celebrate its 25th Anniversary, the Indiana Native Plant & Wildflower Society (INPAWS) is trying something new! Florathon 2018 will see teams from all over the state venture out into our wild areas, state parks, and nature preserves to see how may Indiana native plant species they can spot in bloom during a 24-hour period between April 14 and May 13. The City Nature Challenge is an effort for cities to find and document as much urban nature as possible by challenging residents to become citizen scientists: Residents are asked to explore their area (backyard, playgrounds, parks, etc.) for plants and bugs/animals, document their findings (take a photo), and report them (via the iNaturalist website or app). INAEP Scholarships Available.
The Indiana Association of Environmental Professionals (INAEP) is accepting applications for their 2018 scholarship program. Multiple scholarships of $1000-$2000 will be awarded to help promote and support the training of the next generation of environmental professionals in Indiana. 2018 is the Year of the Bird, and this year’s Global Big Day for birding will be May 5 – that’s right: Cinco de Mayo. Get your birding team together and go count birds . . . . for Science!
