Recent flooding in the Ohio River Valley was captured by NASAs Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS).
MODIS consist of a pair of satellites that record an image of the Earth approximately every two days. The high frequency of imaging makes it ideal for using these satellites to monitor such events as flooding. Snowmelt in the midwest combined with heavy rain events sent a surge of water through the Ohio River Valley between March 17th and 20th.
