The Indiana FEH team recently participated in a special group presentation on fluvial hazards at the 2013 Annual Convention of the Association of State Floodplain Managers (AFSPM) in Hartford, CT.
For the first time, three states, Indiana, Vermont, and Washington, discussed their states approach to fluvial hazard mitigation at a national conference. Each of the states did a short summary of their efforts, and then questions were taken from the audience. The audience was engaged and the questions kept us past our allocated time. Fortunately we presented at the end of day and the discussion could continue.
The response was strong enough that we are discussing making FEH a regular session at the ASFPM annual conference. It sounds like we will be back next year.
