Due to elevated concentrations of taste-and-odor compounds these past two weeks in the raw water, the local water company has decided to treat Eagle Creek Reservoir with an algaecide today in order to remove Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) that are responsible of the smelly water.
The water company will monitor the water quality during the reservoir treatment process, from pre-treatment to post-treatment, according to EPA and IDEM recommendations.
