Sophomore Morgan Farrell is a Linguistics major who works for the Spruce Residence Hall at their Center Desk. For Morgan, one of her favorite parts of the job is getting to know those who live near her. Not only is she meeting more people but she enjoys “helping others and making their day just a little bit easier,” ‘cause that’s what her job is all about. Because of the one-on-one interaction, Morgan is developing her communication and multi-tasking skills. But more than just her people skills, she is honing her judgement and decision making skills, too.
Working at Spruce’s Center Desk, Morgan knows her transferable skills will help her with her future job. Communication, Morgan says, is essential to having a professional team work effectively and efficiently. And most jobs will require multiple levels of involvement at the same time! So yeah, Morgan is sharpening some essential skills for later in life.
After graduation, Morgan is planning on going to grad school! But after grad school, her dream would be to “work as a software developer, developing accessible and affordable language learning programs.” Morgan is very interested in the Arabic language and hopes to be developing software specifically for Arabic in the next 10 years.
Morgan is pretty dang awesome so we’re pretty sure she’ll do great! Good luck, Morgan!
