What was your major/minor/certificate?
My major was communications and I minored in theater.
Why did you become a career coach?
I wanted to be in a helping profession working with college students, and I had struggled with my own career planning when I switched careers, so it has been wonderful to be in a profession where I can educate students about their career planning so they don’t make the same mistakes I did.
What is your favorite part of being a career coach?
Most of the students who use us are not sure what they want to do with their lives, so we coach them through the stages of career planning of self-assessment, career exploration and decision making. It’s fun and rewarding to see when students have an epiphany and they discover what they want in their life.
Why should students come in for career coaching?
Research and exploring careers takes time, so the earlier students start their career planning, the more time they will have to explore careers and make an informed decision about what they want to do.
Fun fact about you
I worked as a production assistant on the TV shows “Coach” and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”
