With 140 majors, 168 minors, and 44 certificates, Indiana University provides many opportunities to create a unique career path. The problem becomes – how do you choose? Your career coach can help you identify your values, interests, personality, and skills, and explore options that align with them. Your career coach can help you locate resources to learn more about different career paths and opportunities.
Your academic advisor can help you formulate your academic goals and understand degree requirements for the majors you are considering. What if I want to change majors?
If you are nervous about changing majors, remember that you are not necessarily starting your degree over. It is very helpful to meet with your academic advisor to look at how your completed coursework applies to your new major. Or, perhaps you and academic advisor might create a plan to explore two options at once. When you are exploring options, remember that your career coach can help you learn more about yourself, majors and career options, and ways to start building experience. Together, your academic advisor and your career coach can provide valuable information and strategies for exploring options through different angles. Putting these perspectives together can provide you with a realistic outlook on the path(s) you want to pursue.
It is important to remember that there is no right or wrong way to explore career paths. Whether you feel like you have no career interests or you feel like you have too many career interests, your career coach and academic advisor can help you create your path. We are looking forward to meeting with you!
