Ben Gonzalez is a senior here at IU, double-majoring in Sociology and Political Science. Talk about a busy guy! But he finds the time to work, too!
Ben works for Bear’s Place as a server and feels that he’s developing his time management and service orientation skills. Over all, time management is a skill Ben knows he will need in his life in all of its “countless” forms. As for service orientation, it’s more of a niche skill, but if he goes into non-profit work he believes it will help him prosper.
Ben has been here at IU for the last four years, but working for Bear’s Place has really given him a new perspective. “As a member of a popular college business/bar, I get to see how students act from a non-student perspective for a change, and it allows me to grasp the culture of my school better.”
So you could say Ben knows the ins-and-outs of our school pretty well, but he doesn’t plan on sticking around much longer.
“After graduation, I want to begin looking into graduate school programs, research institutions, and non-profit organization work. My dream job would be to work every day of my life with a cause in my corner as motivation and as an equalizer to stresses of the day.”
And what a dream/plan it is. We can’t wait to see where you end up and what you do, Ben! Good luck!
