Ryan Sturm is a freshman management student who works at the IU Auditorium’s box office. She feels that through this job, she has improved her skills in time management and prioritizing multiple tasks. In addition, her interpersonal skills are also expanding, as she puts it, “work[ing] a lot with different types of people garners a lot of person skills. Service-orientation is key because you have to pick up on the cues patrons give you–whether or not they are pleased with your service, for example.” One of Ryan’s favorite things about her job is that she works with great people, so work doesn’t always feel like work! In 10 years, she plans on having not only a bachelor’s degree, but also a master’s degree and being financially secure in a large corporate job.
