Taylor Szilagyi is a junior at Indiana University studying tourism, hospitality, and event management. She currently works in the Wright C-Store as a student supervisor. Her duties in this position include cashiering, supervising other student employees, checking attendance, and preparing the store for both customers and her employees. Through her time at the C-Store, Taylor has acquired the ability to think proactively, which allows her plan strategically and prevent accidents from occurring. For instance, she makes it a point to pull the proper food out from the freezer in time to thaw before the next shift of workers arrive to prepare it. This small but thoughtful act makes the job easier for her co-workers. In 10 years, Taylor sees herself either managing a resort or being an event coordinator. No matter where Taylor’s future takes her, being able to think strategically is an invaluable skill that will help her greatly.
