Abbey Lincoln, jazz vocalist, actress and civil rights activist, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010. She was 80 years old. The Black Film Center/Archive hosted a program in March 2010 which honored the film Nothing But a Man. Abbey Lincoln played the leading female role, Josie, in this film.
