Women Make Movies, a multicultural, multiracial, non-profit media arts organization, announces the release of a new film, Africa Rising: The Grassroots Movement to End Female Genital Mutilation.
Directed by Emmy Award® winner Paula Heredia and produced by Equality Now, Africa Rising follows the story of a grassroots movement to end the 5,000 year old practice of female genital mutilation. Following poignant stories of women in Burkina Faso, Kenya, Mali, Somalia, and Tanzania, the film shows how African women and men are putting an end to this human rights violation.
