Lately, I have been trying to expand my podcast repertoire. This includes the number of art podcasts I listen to. Recently, I started listening to a podcast called “Talk Art.” It is hosted by two friends, actor Russell Tovey and gallerist Robert Diament, who became friends via a shared interest in art. In the first episode, I could instantly tell I was going to enjoy the series. The two men had a very calming British Accent, and every few minutes they would crack a joke guaranteed to make at least the corners of your mouth twitch. Each episode is a little different, but typically the hosts have a guest artist on air who they talk to and ask questions, ranging from basic ones like, “What’s your favorite color?”, to more complex ones like “What inspired you to use -insert detail here- in your piece?”. Sometimes they talk about art events taking place near them, discussing what about the event draws in a crowd, and the key points to take away from attending.
Overall, if you are a fan of banter and learning about the artist behind some of the most popular art pieces, I would definitely recommend “Talk Art” to you. Enjoy it while sipping your morning coffee, or on your way to work, or while creating your own masterpiece. I feel like this is a podcast that will help us all get through quarantine.
