This week, I was able to fulfill the four pending research requests that we had. For the past few weeks, MDPI has been down so we have been unable to retrieve copies of our audio files. That is quite a difficult thing to work around as an oral history archive. But it felt so amazing being able to get the audio files to all our patient patrons. One of the requests was from a current IU student who had discovered that our archive had the audio and video recordings of an interview that her grandfather did in the 1990s and she was able to see and hear her grandfather again because of us! It was so amazing!
But to retrieve these files, I had to locate all of their barcode numbers, then submit them via an administrative site to request copies of the files to be pulled down from the cloud. Surprisingly it took no time at all to receive the copies. Then I had to rename all the files, create a shareable file on OneDrive, and then share them with each individual patron.
