Last night the African American Dance Co. Attended the Dance: Breaking Boundaries Pre-Conference Show Programme at the Little Theatre in Kingston Jamacia. International Inspirations: The E. Gwynn Dancers, Dunham Progressions, Bollywood, Talkatife, only a Daeg Wan Bone,Soboni Kim Afrique/Triba and the final production was Speech Sounds recalls that journey across space and time, Orisha, in its ability to respon to increasing complexities of African disapproval identity.
To demonstrate culture and identity not as fixed, but an evolving, moving body inextricable from spirit is conceived of as a mobile technology. The National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica performed a piece of Rex Nettleford’s choreography, “Gerrehbenta,” from 1983. It was breathtaking!!!
